We've decided to end PCS' run officially, but I think it's been a great ride and I'm glad you all were along for it. We couldn't resist another adventure though, so Kim and I will be starting a new distraction for you within the next two weeks. Watch out for another post about our new endeavor!

Centro-matic is of the texas rock persuasion. I enjoy their harmonies and gritty texas sound. You'll know it when you hear it.

And erin and her cello... completely different, but also wonderful. Combining my favorite instrument and fantastic song themes, Erin will grab you right away. Subway Crush is like a craigslist misconnection in song form, i love it. My sister does back up for her somtimes too, so check her out!

It's been far too long, but I was hoping that what I would write here would magically change. There have been several changes since our last podcast including one host quitting her job and suddenly moving to another city (me), nothing exciting still in WI... but the process of leaving jobs, moving and departing from our home together as hosts/roommates has gotten more than a little hectic.

At this point the future of PCS is uncertain, until we settle from moving and organize ourselves. PCS has survived many a day, but we may put Angie's baby away and start fresh... not sure yet. I wanted to keep you all up to date because we love you. I would love to continue posting on the blog in place of the podcast, so you won't be without us completely.

First official blog topic: Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog... it was mentioned in a comment and although you have already missed the chance to see it free, i highly suggest downloading it off of itunes. NPH (neil patrick harris) and musical lovers will be overjoyed at this fantastic creation.

I hope everyone has had their fair share of eggnog and various holiday meats. I know I did :). We are excited to get back to podcasting, but some big changes have been decided on and we want to keep ya'll updated.

Good news: Kim, Nikki and I (Laura) have graduated! And we are about ready to burst with pop culture goodness, or something like that.

Bad news: Angie, the founder of PCS, is a busy lady and has decided to part with her baby. I wouldn't doubt you hearing her in some other podcast form in the future, she can't stay away and maybe we'll get her to visit sometimes or send us some audio gold. Or maybe just some rants about Tyler Perry.

I hope you are ready for us because we're excited to spill our pop culture guts very soon. Get ready for some wild and crazy podcasting, it's gonna be a lil different without Angie and we're still not sure how it will fan out, but stick with us and enjoy the ride! "I Snorted My Dad"

Keith Richards admitted to mixing his cremated father's ashes with some cocaine and then snorting the concoction. That's the kind of news I like to hear, hilarious and kind of creepy all at once. But then it turned out to be just a joke and I felt just a little twinge of sadness. Oh weird and funny news stories why are you always false? We are really excited to record episode 54 this week! Expect it out and about Friday morning.

IMDB reported today that Tom Welling, most well-known for his role as Clark Kent on the CW hit Smallville will be reprising the role of Teen Wolf. The role was originated by Michael Landon in I Was a Teenage Werewolf which was released in 1957. Michael J. Fox starred in the 1985 version: Teen Wolf, and later Jason Bateman took over in Teen Wolf Too.

I definitely think that Tom Welling has the 'Teen Wolf' look, but I haven't heard great things about his acting on Smallville. However, I did a little digging, and it turns out that his parents are originally from Janesville Wisconsin, and his dad worked at the GM plant there. Kind of a weird coincidence. But overall, I think it's a good pick, he's young enough (by which I mean, even though he's actually almost 31, he still looks like a high schooler), and I just hope they do justice to the 1985 movie, which they are reportedly remaking. As of publishing this, there is no official IMDB page for the new version of Teen Wolf.

Honestly, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, but TV Guide announced this weekend that they plan to gather a listing for online programming and post it on their website. The site would also provide a search function for viewers. IMDB wrote: "In an interview with Fox News, Richard Cusick, senior vice president of digital media at Gemstar-TV Guide, remarked, "Everybody says, 'Who's going to be the TV Guide of online video?' and we say, why shouldn't it be us?"" I say, cool.

Well, you know it's true what they say, 'all good things come to an end.' And indeed this is true today, because it was announced that Punk'd will be no more after this season. The season will premiere on April 10th. However, there is some hope left in me, because they did pull a stunt like this after season 1 in order to catch more celebrities off their guard because they believed the show had ended. Ashton Kutcher, DON'T LEAVE ME!!!! (I sincerely hope you all realize that I really hate this show, for serial.)

The Next Big Thing?

Uh Oh. Sound the alarm bells. Apple may have done it again. The Hollywood Reporter carried a story today about Apple TV, which apparently is causing an uproar among Tivo, Netflix, and Blockbuster. Supposedly the console, which currently is a way to display music, photos, and videos from your computer onto a TV screen, is being changed to be more like a DVR. In addition, it is suspected that Apple TV will fuse with iTunes, and negate all other media players to date. Two words: Simmer Down.

-Meet the Robinsons: A boy genius named Lewis (Fry) has his latest invention, a "memory scanner," stolen by the nefarious Bowler Hat Guy. Just when he's given up hope he'll ever retrieve his creation, he meets Wilbur Robinson (Fox), a curious young fellow from the future, who invites him to travel forward in time to meet his eccentric extended family (who really need Lewis's help), hunt down the thief, and perhaps learn a secret or two about his own past.
-The Lookout: A once-promising high school athlete (Gordon-Levitt) finds his life altered following a tragic accident. As he tries to maintain a normal life, he takes a job as a janitor at a bank, where he's targeted by a crew of locals who are looking to pull off a heist.
-Blades of Glory: In 2002, two rival Olympic ice skaters (Ferrell and Heder) were stripped of their gold medals and permanently banned from men's single competition. Fast forward to the present day, where the duo has found a loophole that will allow them to qualify as a pairs team.

As if I wasn't looking forward to finally seeing The Tudors on Showtime enough, they have quenched my thirst by offering the first two episodes of the much anticipated show for free online, before it is to debut on air on April 1st. Ugh, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, stop being so hot. I love you. Okay, drool bucket, I know. But seriously if you do watch the show, post here and let us know what you think. 'That girl from Harry Potter' Update

Emma Watson (or at least her media representatives) have confirmed that she will, indeed, sign on for the last two films in the Harry Potter movie series. Reports last week, spurred by a quote from co-star Rupert Grint (who plays Ron Weasley in the films), said that Watson did not want to continue in the role. Some media analysts believe that the public outcry to keep the actress caused the actress, who may have been on the fence, to agree to finish the series.

Grazergate

Acclaimed film producer Brian Grazer was set to be a guest editor for the Los Angeles Times this past week. However, it was discovered shortly before his section went to print that the editor who chose the filmmaker was in a romantic relationship with Grazer's PR representative. The LA Times publisher decided not to print the section because "although the newspaper did not believe that Martinez's relationship with publicist Kelly Mullens played a part in the selection of Grazer, the Times had decided to cancel the section "to avoid even the appearance of conflict."" (Defamer.com) Grazer only commented early this week that he was 'delighted' to have had the chance to work with staff from the LA Times.

Last Week's News: Sinbad Survives!

IMDB reported last week that, "American comedian Sinbad has laughed off reports he died of a heart attack last Saturday, after website Wikipedia.org stated he had passed away. Wikipedia describes itself as 'the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit', and is used by internet surfers across the world. The entry for funnyman Sinbad was incorrectly edited last weekend by an unknown user. The Jingle All The Way actor - born David Adkins - realized something was wrong when he started getting hundreds of phone calls, emails and text messages from people concerned about the star. And despite the mix-up, the 50-year-old actor accepts the mistake could easily be made in the future. He says, "(On) Saturday I rose from the dead and then died again. It's gonna be more commonplace as the internet opens up more and more. It's not that strange.""

Last Week's News: Out of Captivity

An advertising campaign for the movie Captivity has been rescinded due to complaints about the graphic nature of the graphics. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The ads appeared on 30 Los Angeles-area billboards and 1,400 New York taxi tops. After Dark is paying to have them removed -- and while some billboards in the Hollywood area were still visible Monday, others already had come down." Those responsible for the campaign at After Dark films have claimed the ads were never meant to be seen, and that the wrong file was delivered to be placed on the billboards and taxicabs. Other media analysts believe the 'mistake' was a stunt to promote the movie. Now the MPAA is becoming involved, and although the ads didn't stay up for long, it may affect the rating the movie receives because advertising is submitted along with a film to be rated.

Last Week's News: Green Hornet

Columbia pictures has decided to adapt the comic book character Green Hornet for a movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "'Hornet' was born during the golden age of radio, making its debut on Jan. 31, 1936, on Detroit's WXYZ. He was the creation of the station's George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, who also created the Lone Ranger. The series ran until 1952 on the Mutual and NBC Blue radio networks, in comic books and in two films from Universal Pictures in the early 1940s.' No word yet on any casting favorites.

ABC Show Renewals

Variety reported that ABC has officially renewed: Men In Trees, Boston Legal, Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Dancing With the Stars, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and questionably The Bachelor. Shows that haven't been renewed for ABC include: What About Brian, October Road, Six Degrees, According to Jim, and George Lopez. Decisions, decisions.

Flash Forward

[I posted this originally on one of my other blogs: Confessions of a TV Addict, but I thought it was relevant to PCS too.]

Although a lot of TV shows recently have tried episodes consisting mainly of a flashback like Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, and most notably How I Met Your Mother, there is a new emerging trend of flashing forward. Let me explain.

Two CW shows have been reportedly toying with the idea of fast forwarding a significant amount at the beginning of next season, if they get renewed. The programs in question: One Tree Hill, and Veronica Mars.

It came out late last fall that a possible direction for One Tree Hill's fifth season could be a five year flash forward to all of the characters having just graduated from college, or on their respective career paths. This is definetly and interesting proposition for this show because it has been made clear that most of the characters will be going their seperate ways after high school with exceptions like Haley and Nathan. A move like this, obviously could be hit or miss. When you think about it, the audience for the show are pre-teens, who, while not opposed to twenty somethings managing life after college, are more prone to watching shows about their slightly older counter-parts. If OTH was to jump forward they may face a major rebranding of the show, and I don't know that the CW has the resources to do so. But potentially they could pick up a larger audience, because as previously stated, they will retain the majority of their pre-teen audience, but they could add high school students, college students, and even twenty somethings to their roster. It would be a bold move, but I don't see any other option for the show. I certainly don't want to tune in to a bunch of new cast members, and no interaction between our regular characters.

The second show which is debating this time lapse is Veronica Mars. It was recently reported by Reuters that VM creator Rob Thomas approached the CW with the idea to have Veronica training at the FBI Academy after she has graduated college. It seems that the idea was proposed so that the CW would have more options to renew the show. Smart move on Thomas' part. I would do anything to keep Veronica Mars on air, including waving goodbye to Gilmore Girls. The one problem with this flash forward is the supporting cast. What makes VM such a standout show, especially in the first two seasons, was the supporting cast. We already know that we're losing Piz (Chris Lowell) to Grey's 2.0, and there are rumors abound of some of the supporting cast getting the axe should this new format be picked up. Michael Ausiello from TV Guide has insisted in his column that this is just a horrible rumor. At this point, I think I would like to see a flash forward for Veronica as long as we don't lose Keith(her dad), Mac, and obviously Logan. I would be sad to see Weavel and Wallace gone, but they have done nothing this season, and I think that their characters functioned better in a high school atmosphere. The bottom line is that the college setting is not working with the VM format.

"YouTube members can browse through videos in seven genres at http://www.youtube.com/YTAwards/ and rank their favorite short-form videos. Polling closes on Friday. Trophies will be handed out on March 26." Interesting.

'That Girl From Harry Potter'

In a press release from Warner Bros. studio, as reported on TV Guide, Emma Watson, who played Hermione in the Harry Potter series will not be returning for the remaining two films. Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the films told U.K.'s News of the World "Emma doesn't want to do it anymore. She's tired of being known as 'that girl from Harry Potter. Daniel [Radcliffe] and I are distant from her now. We don't text or talk to her when we are not filming." Bummer major. Don't you hate it when actors turn their backs on the very vehicle that made them a star. Ten bucks says she will go down hill quickly. I can just see the E! True Hollywood Story now.

More Grey's 2.0 Casting News

Whoa, so there is news of four more cast members for Grey's 2.0 from Michael Ausiello (Ausiello Report). Kim and Laura, you'll be interested in a couple of these. First is Paul Adelstein who you both know from Prison Break. I don't watch Prison Break, so you'll have to tell me if he's good or evil on the show. Second is Chris Lowell, who I adore from Veronica Mars. And I believe Kim psuedo-swoons for because he looks an awful lot like Zac Efron. Third is Merrin Dungey, formerly of Alias, and I remember her from Malcolm in the Middle. And finally, (Kim will love this), Amy Brenneman from Judging Amy. Phew. As Ausiello put it: "This thing is really gonna have to suck to fail." And I agree with him. Although it's always dangerous to have this much buzz about a show before the pilot has even been shot. It's just an amazing group of actors that I would love to watch every week. What are your thoughts? Are you excited for Grey's 2.0, or are you really sick of hearing about it, especially when it hasn't even happened yet?

TV Guide and many other media outlets are reporting that Jason Lee is attached to a live action version of Alvin & the Chipmunks to be made into a movie. Although I am a big fan of the Chipmunks, and chipmunks in general, I hope that this movie doesn't turn into anything resembling the live action Garfield movie, which forever tainted my fond relationship with the lasagna-eating, Monday-hating, orange cat. I do however have high hopes, because Lee has shown the ability to choose good movie roles, which so many actors today lack. I'll reserve judgement until I hear any industry buzz or see a trailer. The production is currently classified as being in pre-production, and Lee was reportedly signed last week. IMDB reports that it is scheduled to be released in December 2007.

She's so darn pretty we should hate her, but how can you hate the Ugly Betty producer that is constantly showing everybody up in a positive way. Congrats Salma!

Regis Philbin has been reportedly fired from hosting America's Got Talent. He is to be replaced by none other than Jerry Springer. (More details can be found at TVGuide.com). I'm actually surprised the show is coming back because I didn't think it had that great of ratings during the summer. Also, they may have also lost Brandy as a judge on the show, because I don't know if she'll want to be on the show after her manslaughter charges. We also don't know how the court proceedings in her case will be handled. Personally the show had some entertaining acts, but overall the show was boring. Did any of you see it? Do you think Jerry will make the show more entertaining?

It was just announced that at the very least Tim Daly will be appearing in the special 2 hour season finale, which could launch Kate Walsh (Addison) into her own spin-off. There are rumors of him being a regular on the series, should the program be picked up for fall, but there is no definitive word. I'm all about Tim Daly and Taye Diggs; Kate Walsh is one lucky girl.

Well, it's official. Looks like the Knights of Prosperity is going the way of Studio 60, and is being taken off the schedule and although the network has promised to bring it back, we all know that they're both gone forever. And as far as Studio 60 is concerned, good riddance.

In exciting TV news for Kim and Laura, Brian Greenberg's new drama October Road will be premiering on ABC on March 19th. The show also features Laura Prepon and Geoff Stults.

We recently discussed Ralph Fiennes "mile high club" incident in which a stewardess enjoyed his company in an airplane bathroom and he is again up to no good. He apparently "incurred the wrath of a Belgium hotel boss after he reportedly frolicked naked in a swimming pool with four women". Is this another Hugh Grant debacle? He'll probably be at the club with Brit Brit next week.

Just in case Stephen Baldwin is your favorite actor, because he's certainly mine, he has a new movie made by the Sci-Fi Channel called Earthstorm, where the Moon falls on the Earth, and only Stephen can save us all. Wow, I feel so safe. With such fine films as The Snake King, The Sex Monster, and the always classic Bio-dome under his belt, I know this movie is going to be a masterpiece.

I saw this article on IMDB news today, and I thought it was such a riot. "Nicole Kidman is to make a cameo appearance in cosmetic surgery drama Nip/Tuck, playing a nose job patient." However, I don't agree that she's a nosejob patient, as I think she should be going in for a forehead reduction. I don't think this is big enough to warrant a spot on the 'Pop Culture Countdown,' but funny enough. Thoughts?

Dancing With the Stars

This may be premature, but I'm just so excited I had to share it with you all. There have been reports from different British news sources, and TMZ.com that Heather Mills has cancelled all of her studio time, during which she was supposed to practice for her upcoming appearance in Dancing With the Stars, and has also cancelled a bunch of media photoshoots for DWTS. I'm crossing my fingers extra hard, but we just might lose another celebrity for season 4. This does bring to question whether or not these stars will be replaced, especially if the original 11 are reduced to 9. What are your thoughts?
